Jurassic Coast

I visited Bridport, the gateway to the Jurassic Coast and also went to West Bay where the TV drama Broadchurch was mainly filmed.  It starred David Tennant and Olivia Coleman and was brilliant.

People spend a lot of time looking for fossils between Bridport and Lyme Regis.  The fossils are remains of prehistoric animals and shells formed between 65 and 250 million years ago.  Lyme Regis is famous for its ammonite fossils and is a breathtaking place for collecting them.  There is a shop there which is one of the best in the UK for all types of fossils and gemstones.

Lulworth Cove is beautiful but the best place for me is Durdle Door.  The rock arch is 140 million year old limestone and is one of the most photographed landmarks along the Jurassic coast.  To me it’s a monster having a drink
